Halo

I made this for you.

I made this for you is a raucous, playful yet earnest dance about audience engagement created by Gabrielle Revlock and  Nicole Bindler, for a national dance competition with audience votes determining the winner. The dance challenges notions of competition and conventional forms of beauty by using biting wit and playful commentary. It will feature a number of exciting things such as wrestling, romance, babies and (sur) PRIZES!

Next Show: Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, Pittsburgh, PA, July 25, 2014.

The Dance Apocalypse

The Dance Apocalypse is a duet created by Gabrielle Revlock and Nicole Bindler. Taking the form of a Directors' Commentary, the audience will experience the dance as if peering through a camera lens -- zooming in to our intimate musings and exchanges, out to a large film screen, and back in again. The result is a forceful commentary on our relationship to art-making and to each other as female artists in a spectacle-driven world. Read the reviews of the April 7, 2014 show at FringeArts by CityPaper and Rob Wright. A review of the March 4, 2013 showing by thINKingDance can be found here. For updates and photos visit our facebook page. This project is supported by a grant from The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage.

Next Show: September 4, 2014 at DanceNOW Joe's Pub Festival in NYC.

CardioCreativity

Do you feel intimidated by dance classes? Do you feel bored by fitness classes? Want to learn and explore dance in a supportive environment that values creativity and personal expression? Then CardioCreativity –an alternative to mainstream dancercize– is the place for you! For 8 weeks Gabrielle along with co-teacher Nicole Bindler offered free CardioCreativity classes. Read a review of the classes on thINKingDance or watch videos from class. We hope to be able to offer these classes again. To stay in the loop get on the mailing list. We also offer workshops!

Halo

Halo (excerpt) from Gabrielle Revlock on Vimeo.

An intimate duet for dancer and hoop. The woman manipulates the hoop yet at times appears to be controlled by it. As the dance unfolds, it conjures images of loneliness, entrapment, and surrender.

"Revlock’s thoughtful construction of each action coupled with her assured, doe-eyed presence lent an affecting quality" -Beau Hancock, ThINKing Dance

Next Show: September, 27-28, 2014 at 171 Cedar Arts Center in Corning, NY.
