About
Mano/Damno
Mano/Damno Projects seeks to blur the line between living and performing to create works that spark curiosity. Inspired by any and everything from interpersonal dynamics to survival manuals to biblical stories, director Gabrielle Revlock infuses each project with her characteristic wit and structural ingenuity. Imaginative and sincere, the works invite the viewer in and are intended to evoke emotional reaction and stimulate intellectual exploration. Speckled with humor and surprise, they also entertain.
Mano /Damno has received support from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (2009), the nEW Festival (2008-2009) and the New Edge Mix (2006). Stage work has been shown at various venues including the Joyce SoHo (NYC) and the Korzo Theater (The Hague, Netherlands). In 2009 Mano /Damno was selected to present in The A.W.A.R.D. Show! as part of the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival in partnership with the Joyce Theater Foundation. Mano / Damno films have been shown at the 2007 & 2008 dance film festival, Motion Pictures programmed by Philadelphia Dance Projects. Bryn Mawr College, Drexel University and Vassar College have commissioned works by the company.
Challenging the conventional boundaries of genre, many projects incorporate dance but are not limited to dance. Others exist in different mediums altogether, including music, design, and video.
Founded in 2002, Mano /Damno is based in Philadelphia.
