About

Mano/Damno

Mano/Damno is an interdisciplinary art group exploring the boundary between living and performing to create playful works that critique and laud. Each project has a unique incarnation but all are intended to invoke emotional reaction and stimulate intellectual exploration. Founded in 2002, Mano/Damno is based in Philadelphia.

Collaborators: Gabrielle Revlock, Bonnie Friel, Jesse Greenberg,
Kerry Kenney, Jennifer Shahade, Jacob Mitas and friends.

What does the name mean? While traveling in Italy, Bonnie Friel and Gabrielle Revlock found that, due to location, the common exclamations "Oh Man!" and "Oh Damn!" should be reversed to become "Man-o!" and "Dann-o!" This led to their discovery of two Italian brothers, Mano and Damno. These brothers are fun-loving and believe that troublemaking is romantic.
